‘BULLY FOR YOU’ HOMEWORK

BULLY FOR YOU

We are going to be taking part in an online interactive mystery called Bully For You. Our goal is to help find Ted Andrews, a student who has gone missing. You will be going online over the upcoming weeks and participating in this goal of finding the missing student. Before you begin you need to complete step 1 and step 2 below:

Step 1:

One of your parents must read and sign the internet activity contract. Return the completed form to Mr Sim.

Step 2:

Answer the questions below in your homework book. It needs to be ruled up and presented neatly. Show the completed work to your parents and have a discussion about what you have written. You may then decide to add to your initial answers. Return the completed work to Mr Sim. You should be writing at least 2 or 3 sentences for each question in FULL SENTENCE ANSWERS.

1.)   Write a definition of bullying.

2.)   Do you think bullying is a problem at our school? Why or why not?

3.)   What kind of bullying have you seen?

4.)   How did you feel when you saw someone being bullied?

5.)   What did you do when you saw the bullying happening?

6.)   Have you ever been bullied? What happened?

7.)   What is a social networking website?

8.)   What social networking websites do you use?

9.)   Why do you like to use these kinds of sites?

10.) Are social networking websites a good thing? Why or why not?

THIS HOMEWORK IS DUE ON THURSDAY NEXT WEEK. You will not be able to participate in the program unless you have completed both steps.

Storybird Tip #1

Storybird Tip #1

Over the next week I will put up some grammar, spelling and punctuation tips to help you with your Storybird Assignment.
Each time I put up tips, you should check your assignment for EACH of these tips.

CAPITALS: Go through your book and correct ALL capitals. This includes at the start of every sentence, names of people or characters and when using I (Eg “I went to the beach”)

SPACES AFTER GRAMMAR: You should have a space after (NOT BEFORE!) every full stop, comma, exclamation mark, question mark and the ’99’ in quotation marks.

SPEECH- This will need a post on its own, but do not forget each sentence involving direct speech needs to start on a new line, and you need a comma or full stop after each piece of speech (as discussed in class).

Balloon Rocket Challenge

Balloon Rocket Challenge

As a part of Science Week we had a balloon rocket in class. Students worked together to connect a balloon and straw to make a rocket. They then had 30 seconds to set it up and race.

It was great fun, even if we did drown out the block with our yelling. Pictures will follow, but have a look at the videos below of our semi and grand final races.

STORYBIRD

Today we logged in and had a play with a new program called ‘Storybird‘.

This is a program in which you pick the pictures you want in a book and then write a story about them. It is great fun!

In a few weeks we will do an assignment with this program, but for now you are able to play around and explore it.

If you write a great story (with no errors), publish it and I can put it on the blog.

CLICK HERE to access the site. Everyone was given their log in details today.

Here is a good example of a book.

Todd is back with us after playing a baseball tournament in China recently. Although they did not get the results they were after, Todd had a great time!
