Earth Hour 2014

Earth Hour takes place every year to bring awareness to people around the world about climate change and the environment.

Earth Hour will take place on Saturday night from 8:30-9:30pm.

We will be celebrating Earth Hour as a school on Thursday between 11:00-12:00pm. During this time we will be turning off all electrical appliances in the school along with lights and air conditioning.

Your task is to comment and let everyone know at least one thing you could do to help conserve energy usage in your own life.

Purple Haze Day

Purple Haze Day

Today we celebrated Purple Haze Day in support of the Starlight Foundation, which helps sick children.

Well done to everyone that wore purple today, even if you were not a Docker’s supporter.

As a school we raised $737.25. What a great effort!

Active Citizenship Launch

Active Citizenship Launch

Today, at our school assembly, we launched our Active Citizenship project for 2014. We were lucky enough to have Captain Shane Harris from the Jandakot Bush Fire Brigade and Youth Officers Russell and Sam speak at our assembly.

The year six students will be learning about, and raising money to make a life size bushy bear mascot for the Local Government Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades of Western Australia. Bushy Bear will visit schools and communities to help teach children like us about fire awareness and the people that protect us.

O
Throughout the year, representatives from the Local Government Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades such as Jandakot, our local Brigade, as well as other emergency services, will be working with us as we learn more about fire safety so that we can teach everyone here at school.

Our aim is to raise $6500 to help this important cause.

We will begin fundraising shortly, through a chocolate fundraiser, but if you would like to donate further, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Feel free to comment below.
