Interschool Winter Sports
Interschool Winter Sports
Yesterday, the Year 5/6 students competed in the Interschool Winter Sports competition against Atwell, Success, Aubin Grove and Jandakot.
Everyone tried their hardest and showed outstanding sportsmanship. Overall we came 2nd, which we should be very proud of. Well done also to the Soccer ‘B’ Team on winning their competition.
Below are some photos of soccer, AFL and netball. If anyone else has any photos can they please let me know.
Former Students
Former Students
I have had a few former students come and tell me that they still come and look at the blog regularly. I have now added a page to the top on the blog in which you can come and say hello. It would be great to hear what everyone is up to and any exciting news that you have to share.
Please remember to follow the commenting guidelines of the blog (appropriate language, correct grammar etc).
Thanks!
Limericks
Limericks
Over the past week we have been learning about limericks. These are fun, rhyming poems.
Here is a fun video, showing us the rules of a Limerick.
Here are the rules of Limericks that we have discussed in class:
A limerick is a FIVE line poem that tells a story.
Lines 1, 2 and 5 are longer, and must rhyme.
Lines 3 and 4 are shorter and rhyme with each other.
This type of poetry relies heavily on rhythm and rhyme.
Your task is to come up with a funny, interesting limerick and post it below. This must be done by FRIDAY JUNE 21st.

Assembly- Federation of a Nation
Assembly- Federation of a Nation
Today was our class assembly. Congratulations to everyone! You all did a fantastic job and I was very proud of you. I have heard back from many people that they learnt a lot, and received a special email from Ms Hadley telling us that our assembly was wonderful, and that it was a great way to learn history.
Hopefully everyone now knows a little about Henry Parkes and Edmund Barton, as well as the process Australia went through to become a nation (including the positive and negative reasons that were given). Maybe you can comment below to help remind people, as it is a very important part of Australia’s history that we should all know.
Well done also to all our award recipients, including Haylee for ‘Aussie of the Month’, Harrison for the ‘Gateways Award’ and Kyle, Sophie and Ben for receiving Achievement Awards.
Lapathon 2013
Lapathon 2013
On Tuesday, all Harmony students participated in our annual Lapathon Fundraiser. Well done to everyone who participated and raised money to help the school. As a class we calculated that we ran a total of approximately 134km in under an hour.
Please comment on the photos below.

Tribe Cross Country
Tribe Cross Country
Today we had our school Tribe Cross Country Event. The Year 3 and 4 students ran 1km and the Year 5 and 6 students ran 1.5km. Everyone was encouraged to compete, and everyone that participated received a point for their Tribe.
Well done to the Burgundy Bilbies who won the event on the day. Well done to Georgia from LA 23 who won the Year 6 girl’s event, and Corey who placed third in the boy’s event.
Assembly Clothing Ideas
Assembly Clothing Ideas
Our assembly will be taking place on June 12, and we need to start thinking about what we are going to wear!
I have started this page for you to add suggestions or ideas of what you are going to wear or how we can dress up so that we look like we are in the olden days!
This may be a suit or a dress or conservative formal wear for adults and plain clothing for children. The adults will be attending ‘important’ meetings and so if you have a bow tie available or something similar it would be great! We would also love top hats or hats that children may have worn.
If you find any good websites with photos, or have anything you may be able to lend to others, please let us know!
Please start bringing in LABELLED items this week.
