The 2011 Harmony PS Fete is coming on Sunday September 25 and we need YOUR help ASAP! This will be a long term project that cannot be completed in a couple of weeks.
Students have been briefed on our ideas for our combined class stall (LA 18, 19 and 23) where we will be creating SUGAR RUSH LANE!
This will be a combination of a drinks and nibbles stall, games and craft.
We are currently looking for donations of small prizes for the different games. These prizes should only cost around $1 – $2 and can be found in cheap novelty stores like Red Dot, Thingz, Kmart or even Coles and Woolies. Please send these to school as soon as possible. If you have things at home that you think could be useful in the stall please let your classroom teacher know. Some students have offered ideas and ‘equipment’ but we obviously need your support with this, so please talk to your child about it.
Students, feel free to give ideas and ask questions below so that everyone can see your ideas and to tell you what they think!
Parents, feel free to comment and add ideas as well.
More information will follow as we begin to put this together over the term.

THANK YOU AND WELL DONE

The 2011 Fete is over, but what a HUGE success! THANK YOU to all the wonderful students and parents who helped out today. It would have been IMPOSSIBLE without you!

It was such a pleasure to be able to see everyone working together in SUGAR RUSH LANE with the sole purpose of improving our fantastic school!

Once again, thank you to EVERYONE involved, who both worked on the day, in preparation and with donations of prizes, drinks and everything else!

FETE HELPERS

Below is the final timetable for helping out on Sunday for those who are able to. Please check it carefully as some people have been listed twice (especially students).
Please be at the stall at the allocated time so that others can either move to their next ‘job’ or see the rest of the fete.
If your job involves handling drinks or food please read the following ‘rules’ in order to fit in with the City of Cockburn- Guidelines for Temporary Food Premises.
– Have hair adequately covered
– Wear disposable gloves (will be provided) or use utensils
– One person only to touch lollies. Do not handle both money and lollies.
– Wash hands before handling food.
If you have any questions, please contact me as soon as possible via email or the blog.

We need YOU!

We are in the homeward run towards the Harmony Fete next Sunday and we need your help!

We are seeking parent and student volunteers to help out across SUGAR RUSH LANE!

 

We need people for the following jobs-

Ticket Booth- Parents

Prizes Booth- Parents

Drinks Stall- Parents or students

Mini Golf- Parents or students

Balloon Darts- Parents or students

Ten Pin Bowling- Parents or students

Nail Art- Creative Parents

Setting up- Parents or students

How will it work?

We have HEAPS of students who want to help out, but obviously they need parents to allow them to do this. We will put out a note on Monday, BUT if your child can help out at any time you can let us know beforehand via email or the blog.

We need something written on the blog, email or letter for students to help out (as students sometimes volunteer themselves without consulting parents).

We also need parents for jobs involving money and prizes especially.

We will break the day into hour time periods. This will allow parents or students to help out for this time but still enjoy the rest of the Fete.

The times are as follows-

8:00-10:00am (Setting up- Students would be of great help for this)

10:00-11:00am

11:00-12:00pm

12:00-1:00pm

1:00-2:00pm

2:00-3:00pm

3:00-4:00pm

4:00pm (Packing up- Students would be of great help for this)

Although we know we will need flexibility on the day, we hope to have a timetable of jobs set up by Tuesday or Wednesday next week, and so your prompt response would be of great assistance.

THANK YOU to those who have already volunteered, your names are already on our list.

Finally, we are also in desperate need of Cool Drink (any type) to sell at our drinks stall! We have less than 50 cans so far and would like to get past 500 (6 cans a student!)!

Thank you all for your help to hopefully make this a successful event!

NAME THAT GAME!!

NAME THAT GAME!!

LA 18, 19 and 23 are currently running a competition for all students to create new names for the following games at our fete stall, Sugar Rush Lane:

You must comment on this blog with the name you wish to have on the game. You have until the end of this Friday (2 September) to have your comments added.

Mr G, Mr Sim and Miss Deeks will read over the suggested names and will choose one that we thinks fits best.

The games to change are:

  • Mini-Golf
  • Ten Pin Bowling
  • Balloon Dart Board Game

 

ALL SUGGESTIONS MUST BE ADDED ON THIS BLOG POST BY FRIDAY 2 SEPTEMBER (Week 6)

THE CHALLENGE IS ON!!!

Students from LA 18, LA 19 and LA 23 have to design

the most interesting and fun mini golf course that they can!

The course must comprise of 6 holes that will be built out of wood and cardboard on 3 large classroom mats. The mats’ dimensions are approximately 3.5m by 3.3m.

Think about unique challenges that each hole could contain. There could be ramps, tunnels, tilts, angles, windmills, clown mouths etc. The list goes on! Make them fun and have a range of easy to difficult holes. Google it to find some cool designs!

On Friday 2 September (Week 6) you must hand in to your teacher a labelled diagram of each hole in your course. Make sure you include the dimensions and lengths for each hole.

New Donations Priority List

Hi Everyone,

We are nearly there! After a hard word from the teachers, today we had an amazing day with over 120 prizes being brought in, which almost brings us to our 300 prize goal.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BROUGHT ALONG A DONATION!

It has been great seeing the students getting so excited about our fete and being involved in the lead up and preparation.

As promised, our new priority list of things needed for our fete stall is here and it is great to see that prizes are no longer on the list. We still appreciate all the people who continue to commit donations for prizes and we are definitely more than happy to continue receiving them and building up our stockpile.

If there is something that you could provide on the new priority list it would be greatly appreciated.

Donations

Thanks EVERYONE who has brought in donations for Sugar Rush Lane! We currently have 43 prizes in our quest for 300! This means we are making good progress but we need to keep them rolling in!

We still need prizes, bags of lollies, wood and 2L Coke Bottles!

Prizes and Donations

Thank you to everyone that has brought in prizes for our Sugar Rush Lane stall for the school fete!

We are still in desperate need of prizes ($1-2 each) for our games, as well as wood (Any length), lollies and 2L Coke bottles.

We are aiming for 300 prizes in total across LA 18. 19 and 23. The more the better!!!
