Sausage Sizzle Helpers Needed

Sausage Sizzle Helpers Needed

The Woolworths sausage sizzle was a great success raising over $1200 towards the costs of camp and graduation, thank you to all the families that came down and supported what was a really fun day.

Sunday the 10th of August is our next major fundraising event for Year 6, this time a Bunnings sausage sizzle. We are now looking for as many volunteers as we can get to help the day run smoothly. Please put your name up on the volunteer roster on your classroom door, we would love at least one family from each class for each time slot.

8:30 – 10:30am, 10:30 – 12:30pm, 12:30 – 2:30pm and 2:30 – 4:30pm.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Please email me if you are able to help out, or come and see me in the classroom.

Thanks

Purple Haze Day

Starlight

Purple Haze Day

Next Friday (21-3-14) is Purple Haze Day. This event supports the Starlight Foundation. The Starlight Foundation helps seriously ill and hospitalized children throughout Australia.

You do not need to dress in Docker’s clothes, but you do need to be in purple. It is a gold coin donation to participate.

Mathletics

Mathletics

All students should now have an account with Mathletics. We will be using this throughout the year, both in class and as homework. Students should be logging in every few days. I will put up tasks that reflect the work we have done in class. Students should also be regularly practicing their mental maths on the site.

I am also able to set harder and easier tasks, depending on a student’s level. Students will write in their diary when a task needs to be completed.

The first task, due on Monday is about recognising place value to the millions. This has been a recent focus in class and is important to understand before moving onto other areas of Year 6 maths.

Good luck!

Term 1 Class Timetable

Term 1 Class Timetable

I have had a few people ask me about getting a copy of the class timetable for this term. This is especially important for students who miss out of time in the classroom due to being an instrumental student, leaders and kitchen / garden helpers.

Please note that we do need to change the timetable around to suit the areas we are covering, so it may not always be accurate.

Parent Information Night

Parent Information Night

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Year 5 and 6 teachers invite you to attend our parent information evening next Wednesday the 12th of February.  The meeting will commence at 5:30pm in the staff room where we will provide you with some general information that will be useful to you as the parent or caregiver of a child in Year 5 or 6.  Following this, you will be invited to your child’s classroom where their teacher will provide you with more classroom specific information.  We look forward to continuing positive partnerships with our parent community in 2014.

We look forward to seeing you there. If you have any specific questions please do not hesitate to email me or post a comment below.
