Melbourne Cup Preparation

Today was Melbourne Cup preparation day for our eggs today. We discussed the fashion of the Melbourne Cup, and the types of hats that are often worn. We then, as a part of T & E, had to draw and construct a hat for our egg.

First Aid Course

First Aid Course

Today we had a surprise visit from St John Ambulance. Holly was able to show us what we should do if we are around when someone becomes unconscious or injured.

Even though we are only in Year 6, we are all capable of helping others if they get into trouble.
It is one of the most important skills to learn, and gives you the skills to help save someone’s life.

We learnt DR ABC (Although we didn’t get to the C!).

WINTER CARNIVAL PHOTOS

A couple of weeks ago we competed in the Winter Carnival against Atwell, Success, Aubin Grove and Jandakot. Overall we placed 2nd, which was a great effort. A HUGE well done goes to the Football team and the ‘B’ Soccer team who won their competitions.

Tribe Cross Country

Well done to EVERYONE that competed in the Tribe Cross Country on Friday. It was a great event, and it was fantastic seeing everyone giving it a go!!

Everyone that competed collected points for their Tribe.

A special congratulations goes to all the place-getters in all the races, and to those who were lucky enough to make the Interschool Cross Country Team.

In LA 23 Abi and Todd both won their races and Amy came third in the girls race, just behind her sister!

A quick update

A quick update…

It has been a really busy start to the term, and we are at the end of week 3!! We have had ANZAC Services, a Water Day Incursion, Printing Wakikiri costumes, had a Murdoch Prac Student coming in to help, practicing for our assembly as well as all the other learning that takes place.

Our busy schedule is not about to stop though! We have our assembly in Week 5, so if everyone can keep practicing their parts, and bringing in any ‘costume’ they might be wearing then that would be greatly appreciated. We want this to be a GREAT assembly in your last year at Harmony!

Swimming starts in Week 6, so please bring in your forms.
The school’s LAPATHON is on May 18, so start getting sponsorship to win some AMAZING prizes!
BOOK WEEK is coming too! Dress up day is May 24 so dress up as your favourite book character and bring in a gold coin donation. Mr Sim may even get dressed up this year.
The TRIBE CROSS COUNTRY is on May 25, so make sure you are practicing your running!
The INTERSCHOOL WINTER CARNIVAL is also coming in week 8!!

There are LOTS of things happening, and before we know it, it will be near the end of the term when some students will be lucky enough to go to Canberra.

On a final note, we got our first reply to our letters requesting items to auction off for our Turn on the Tap project. Well done to Callum who received a letter from Hex who is the co-host of GOOD GAME on ABC 3. Hex donated a signed Good Game jumper to our cause. Hopefully more letters will come through soon!!
