Sophie- Stampede in the Valley

Sophie- Stampede in the Valley

Below is a photo of Sophie after competing in the Stampede in the Valley last year. It looks like great fun!
Here is what Sophie has to say about the day.

I did the Stampede in the valley and it was so much fun, this is a picture of me and my dad after completing the Stampede in the valley. I had to chuck those clothes out because they were very dirty after. I had so much fun playing with my dad the whole day. We had to complete all sorts of obstacles, my dad and I had to go over a cargo net, go through tires and then we had to crawl through a big pit of mud.  Then when we were all yucky and muddy we had to do a sack jumping competition and I fell over about 5 times,  but it was fun. At the end we got to swim around in mud, I had a blast. When we crossed the finish line I got a necklace that said ‘Stampede in the valley’  I had so much fun that day. 🙂

Ashlee’s Holiday- Day 7

Ashlee’s Holiday- Day

Today we got up at 0615 for our last fish at Blue Holes. I LOVE Kalbarri. When we got there it was low tide again, but not as low as the other day.

Hannah and I played in the sand hills. We made sand cakes. haha. Next Mum did breakfast for us and we had cocopops in our tent. I think I sent a picture of that this morning. We went for a walk on the rock pools and the water was nice and warm. There was a person snorkeling for his cray pots. He was crazy because there was very high surf and it was dangerous and crashing waves. He had a dog called Mambo. The dog was so scared because he thought his owner was drowning, but the dog loved me and we kept it company. I will put a picture of him on here. He was licking me and even followed me everywhere.

We rode our scooters when we got home and I played with Asha a friend that I made.

Next I went in the pool when Mum cooked the Tailor Dad caught at the beach this morning.

Then we packed lots of stuff for the trip tomorrow.

Dad took me fishing for the last time at the jetty this afternoon and I caught a Cod and two Fingermark Breams.   They were undersize though.

Dad cooked dinner on the BBQ and we had a last swim at the same time.   Then Mum wanted to do a better shot of our traditional sunset sister’s photo.

She is much more pleased with the new ones because last night the clouds were blocking the sunset. Tonight it was really lovely.    I LOVE KALBARRI!!!!!!!

Tomorrow we have to leave…… and drive all the way home again which is sooo long.  I am sad…

Ashlee’s Holiday- Day 6

Ashlee’s Holiday- Day 6

Thursday Diary… fun fun fun..

Today I got woken up so early by Dad going out fishing at 6.30 I couldn’t get back to sleep so I read for a while and finished another book.

I got up at 7.15. When Dad got home we had some breakfast of pancakes Mum made, then we went down to the river and had a paddle around in the boat. It was so windy and wavey so we didn’t do it for long. Hannah and I had a bit of a walk and then we went back to the unit.  Hannah and I rode our scooters around for ages and made a new friend called Asher. We all played hide and seek chasey. Next we had a swim.  Then Mum wanted to take our traditional photo on the river banks with the sunset behind us… she was really disappointed because the sun was behind clouds.   This afternoon we also went fishing on the jetty. I caught lots of fish but they were all undersized.  I really wanted to catch a black bream because they taste so yummy. But there was none around.

Mum bought us all dinner at the pub. I had grilled fish and chips and it was really nice.

Ashlee xx

One picture is of us having a bit of fun in the inflatable boat. We don’t take our big boat all the way up here… so we just muck around in this one. It’s hard when it’s windy.

Another is of me fishing on the jetty.  It was a shame that I didn’t catch any black bream because they are so nice to eat.

One is of us eating our breakfast on the beach. It was cold this morning so we didn’t snorkel.  The other one is of doing our washing up beach style !!

Ashlee’s Holiday- Day 5

Ashlee’s Holiday- Day 5

Hi everyone,
Today I got up at 6.20am to go to the Blue Holes.  It was the lowest tide I had ever seen. I could see all the rocks and there were millions of rock pools.
I went over to them and it was beautiful. I asked Mum if I could snorkel there and she said yes ! So Mum and I had to drive all the way back to our unit. I got my snorkel and we went back again.
When we got back Mum went with Hannah and I to start exploring the rock pools. Mum and Hanny found 3 octopuses (is that right? ) no octopi. Then I went and put my snorkel on and hopped in. It was FREEZING !!!!!! I went under and it was AMAZING !!!! I saw big thick mullet and lots of Dart who were chasing me. I found a ghost crab, it was tiny. Next Hannah begged to go in and snorkel too because I brought the whole snorkel bag. Finally, because it was so calm Mum said yes. She was so happy. I hopped out of the water after Hannah and me saw a camouflaged fish with glowing red eyes !!!! aaaarrrr.   Then after a rest at 4pm we went to Red Bluff to fish. It was soooo windy and we slid down the sand hills on boxes. It was fun. We are so tired now, so after Mum makes sausage sizzle for tea we are going straight to bed.
One picture is of me going down the sand hill.   One is of me snokeling.

Ashlee’s Holiday- Day 4

Ashlee’s Holiday- Day 4

Today Daddy had to get up at 4.50am !!!! aarrggghh… to go on the fishing charter.  When we got up later we got ready and went out for breakfast with Mum. We went to Black Rock and I had Eggs Benedict that came with 2 poached eggs, ham, bacon and toasted bread. It was so yum!
After that Mum took us to our favourite place. Mum has been there over 20 times – hahaha!  I love it too and I think I have been at least 6 times.
It is Rainbow Jungle.  It is Australia’s best parrot breeding centre. All the birds are so well looked after and they breed them so the ones that are endangered and bred so they don’t die out.  It is so beautiful there. Next in the gift shop I bought Mr Simojoki a present !
Then we went and waited for Dad to get back from the charter. Finally it arrived at the jetty. He had caught a shark, but he couldn’t keep it. He also caught 2 snapper, 3 crayfish and a Blue Throat Emperor.  When we got home, Hannah and I had a 3 hour swim !! by then it was 6pm, so Mum cooked the crays on the BBQ with some fish. We are really tired now so we are going to bed. Tomorrow we have to get up early to go to the other side of the river on the boat. that will be so much fun.

xx Ashlee
Pictures are a yellow tail black cockatoo – they are beautiful !!!!!!!
The other one is a lizard I found.
There is a picture of Hannah and I that Mum took on the river nearly at sunset time. I love it.
One of us playing chess near the pool, and the last one is really special because it is a baby lorikeet that Mum rescued, It fell out of the nest and it couldn’t even fly yet.  She gave it to the people at the Rainbow Jungle parrot breeding place and they will look after it.
