Students from LA 18, LA 19 and LA 23 have to design

the most interesting and fun mini golf course that they can!

The course must comprise of 6 holes that will be built out of wood and cardboard on 3 large classroom mats. The mats’ dimensions are approximately 3.5m by 3.3m.

Think about unique challenges that each hole could contain. There could be ramps, tunnels, tilts, angles, windmills, clown mouths etc. The list goes on! Make them fun and have a range of easy to difficult holes. Google it to find some cool designs!

On Friday 2 September (Week 6) you must hand in to your teacher a labelled diagram of each hole in your course. Make sure you include the dimensions and lengths for each hole.

GOOD LUCK!!!

We are nearly there! After a hard word from the teachers, today we had an amazing day with over 120 prizes being brought in, which almost brings us to our 300 prize goal.

We still appreciate all the people who continue to commit donations for prizes and we are definitely more than happy to continue receiving them and building up our stockpile.

If there is something that you could provide on the new priority list it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for all your support!

NUMERO TOP TAKE CHALLENGE

NUMERO TOP TAKE CHALLENGE

Numero is such a great way to improve both your problem solving, mental maths and general maths skills. The great thing about Numero is that you can play it with a friend BUT if you are by yourself or don’t have a deck of cards, you can also play it online.

HOW?

You go to http://www.numero.org/numero-challenges/ (Or just google Numero, and go to ‘Challenges’ at the top.

Students in Year 5 should be doing level Four or Five Challenges. If you aren’t up to that level yet, DON’T WORRY! Do the highest level you can.

WHAT NOW?

So… You have done a great Top Take! TELL US ABOUT IT! Write down the moves you did and how many cards you took…

FOR EXAMPLE: 3 + 5 divided by 2 + 6 = 4 (Took 5 with a 4). ALSO, mention what level you did it on!

WHO CAN PLAY?

EVERYONE! Whatever year you are in, give it a go and add a comment to the blog! The more the merrier!

GOOD LUCK!

I want to see everyone giving this a go. Try to do it for 20 minutes a week or more if you have time!

Clean Up Australia Day

Clean up Australia

Today we participated in Clean Up Australia Day. Our block was asked to clean up around the lake near the school. We could not believe the amount of rubbish we found! While we were happy that we were able to help clean up so much rubbish, we were disappointed that there was so much there in the first place!

Always remember to put your rubbish in the bin, and if you happen to see some rubbish on the ground then try to pick it up.

Here are some pictures from the day.

Below is an attachment for ALL the words we have learnt over the past term. They include the list you have finished and the one you are on now. Next week we will have a test on the list you have finished. It would be a good idea to get someone to test you on these words over the next few days.

PARENTS

We have a couple of students who do not bring completed homework every week. It is appreciated if you could work with your child to get this finished. If 15 minutes is set aside each night for homework then you will be doing an important job in adding to your child’s learning.
