Homework- What causes a volcanic eruption?

Homework- What causes a volcanic eruption?

Some students were at Wakakirri Practice during science today, or did not finish their work. This means that it needs to be done for homework. Remember: If you are involved in EXTRA activities (eg Wakakirri, Choir, Leadership) you are expected to catch up on missed work. If this is not done it may prevent your participation in these activities into the future.

It should be completed in your SCIENCE book by Thursday. The information is able to be found in this week’s fluency text.

Click Here for the list of questions. You will need to copy down any questions that are written in blue. You do not need to copy down anything in red. Questions 2 and 6 should be written as FULL SENTENCE ANSWERS.

Energy Information

Energy Information

Well done to everyone who did their homework and found out how much energy their house used. We have collected some very interesting information!

For those who have not finished it, please do this by Monday! We also need to know if you have solar panels attached to your house, solar powered water or gas.

Please comment below with anything interesting you discovered after our discussion today.

Please also comment with some great ideas of how we can promote our school to use less energy.

Favourite Children’s Book

Favourite Children’s Books

What is your favourite children’s book?

Your task is to bring your favourite children’s book (picture book) to class. They should be picture books that are aimed at children from about 5-8 year olds (not novels or comics!).

It is important that your book is FICTION and tells a story. It must have a beginning, a middle (climax of the story) and an ending (resolution).

You need to bring in the book by WEDNESDAY (August 7). If you do not have a book you need to borrow one or get one out of the library at recess.

Here are some of my favourites! What are yours?

You are not required to find out how much it costs, but how much is used on average each day. This should be listed on your household electricity bill.

You also need to list in your homework book the items in your house that would use the most electricity (TVs, computers, heaters, fridges and pools)- Including their sizes. You should also include which items are connected to gas, solar and electricity.

You also need to record the number of bedrooms and bathrooms you have.

Please also record the TIME OF THE YEAR the information is from (For example- June / July).

This is due on FRIDAY.

Family Tree Homework Task

Family Tree Homework Task

Below is the homework task that was set today. This task involves investigating your family tree and where each member of your family was born (Either the country or state). If you are unable to complete any part of your family tree, please leave it blank.

The second part of the homework task is to investigate WHY members of your family migrated to another country (or state). You are to record WHY members of your family migrated to Australia (or another country) in your homework book.

We will then use this information for our next part of our lesson on the pull and push factors of migration.

THIS TASK IS DUE ON MONDAY AUGUST 5.

Limericks

Limericks

Over the past week we have been learning about limericks. These are fun, rhyming poems.

Here is a fun video, showing us the rules of a Limerick.

Here are the rules of Limericks that we have discussed in class:

A limerick is a FIVE line poem that tells a story.

Lines 1, 2 and 5 are longer, and must rhyme.

Lines 3 and 4 are shorter and rhyme with each other.

This type of poetry relies heavily on rhythm and rhyme.

Your task is to come up with a funny, interesting limerick and post it below. This must be done by FRIDAY JUNE 21st.
